Same84 created the first large-scale mural at “Sotiria” Hospital, on the outer wall of the central entrance of the “Radiology Department”, as part of UrbanAct’s “Color in Hospitals” program.
The program is a continuation of the important interventions that UrbanAct has made in Hospitals across Greece and was implemented with the cooperation and hospitality of the “Sotiria” Hospital Administration.
The mural focuses on the importance of the concept of “offering”. It connects the historical past of the Hospital with the present and the future. It refers on the one hand to the efforts of Sophia Schliemann and her companions to find supporters to create a first space for hosting and treating tuberculosis patients and on the other hand to the present day where the hospital, with its human resources, offers to society and citizens.
Same84’s project is the first piece of the puzzle for a gradual remodeling of the buildings of this historic Hospital, with the aim of informing, giving color, joy and a positive mood to patients, visitors and staff.
As Same84 says, “It was an honor for me to be given the opportunity to give an optimistic message through my work in such a place, in my effort to make at least some people wonder by creating ‘street art’ in the hospital space.”
Same84 is one of the most important artists of his generation, with his works and large murals present throughout Greece and abroad. He has been present with his works since 1996, having created over 200 murals on building facades that you can find almost all over the country.
For over twenty years, UrbanAct has been implementing organized public mural programs throughout Greece and abroad, with murals that aesthetically upgrade spaces, transmit messages, beauty and optimism, with artists who offer their work and their empathy for a different approach to public space.
